How long shopper data is kept
Bountful deletes the shopper data it has collected once it’s older than the time you pick. This covers things like the chats and requests on the Shoppers screen. It doesn’t touch the other customer data in your store.
Where: Settings → Privacy & data
Choose how long
- 1Go to Settings → Privacy & data.
- 2Under Keep shopper data for, pick 12 months, 6 months or 3 months. It starts at 12 months.
- 3Click Save.
If you pick a shorter time, Bountful deletes the older data within a day. Deleted data can’t be brought back.
How the time is counted
- A chat is deleted that long after its last message.
- A shopper’s name and email are deleted that long after their last visit.
For example: you pick 6 months. A shopper’s last chat was on 1 March, and their last visit on 15 March. The chat is deleted around 1 September, and their name and email around 15 September.
What stays
Bountful keeps totals, like conversations and sales from chat, with nothing that points to a shopper.
