Changing the shipping address before an order ships

You can let shoppers change the shipping address on their order in the chat, before the order ships. It’s off to start with.

Where: Settings → Agent → Orders

Turn it on

  1. 1Go to Settings → Agent → Orders.
  2. 2Check that Let shoppers look up their orders is on. Address changes need it.
  3. 3Turn on Let shoppers change the shipping address.
  4. 4Click Save.

If Bountful needs your permission in Shopify first, the card says so. Close and reopen the app once to give it.

When a shopper can change it

  • The shopper first proves the order is theirs, the same way as for an order lookup.
  • The order isn’t cancelled, has items left to ship, and none has shipped.

The shopper can change the street, city, postcode, country, name, company and phone. Bountful saves the new address on the order in Shopify, and tells the shopper what changed.

If the tax changes

A new address can change the order’s tax. Then Bountful tells the shopper how much, and that you’ll contact them about the difference.

You get a request in Shoppers → Requests and an email, with the order and the tax before and after. Bountful doesn’t charge or refund the shopper. You settle the difference in Shopify.

When the switch is off

Bountful doesn’t change the address. It passes the order number and new address to you as a request. You change it in Shopify. This needs Settings → When to fetch you on. Without it, Bountful points the shopper to you.

What stays with you

The shipping address is the only thing a shopper can change from the chat. To change items or cancel an order, Bountful sends the shopper to you.

The new address shows on the order in your Shopify admin.
