When Bountful asks a shopper for an email
Bountful asks for a shopper’s email only at a few points. Most of them need Collect shopper emails turned on, in Settings → Agent → Leads. It’s off to start with.
Where: Settings → Agent → Leads
When it can ask
- After suggesting products: if the shopper likes them and keeps chatting, Bountful can offer to save their email. Then your store can send them the picks.
- When a product is sold out: Bountful can offer to save their email. Then your store can tell them when it’s back.
- For a discount code: if you offer discounts, Bountful can offer a code in return for an email. It chooses when. A shopper who asks for a code, or offers an email for one, doesn’t start this trade, and isn’t offered it later in that chat.
- When the shopper asks you to follow up: for example, “email me if the price drops”. Bountful saves their email and a note of what they want.
- On the sold-out card: a small card next to the chat button, with a box for the shopper’s email.
The first four are for a shopper Bountful doesn’t know yet: not signed in, and no email from an earlier visit. Bountful makes an offer at most once a chat, after it has answered.
When it asks without that switch
A shopper who asks for a person types their email into a short form. That needs Let shoppers reach a human on, in Settings → When to fetch you.
When it doesn’t ask
- Signed-in shoppers: Bountful doesn’t make them the first four offers. Bountful doesn’t take their email from their account either. They can still type one on the sold-out card, or in the form for a person.
The emails shoppers leave in these places show in Shoppers → Requests. Bountful doesn’t email shoppers itself. You write to them, then mark the request done.
